Soccer.

August was "Soccer Month". All three girls played soccer this year. Quinn and Lily were on the same team and Abbigail was on the older team. Games started the first week in August and ended the last week. They usually had two games a week. It was a jammed pack month, we ate more at Arctic Circle than we'd like to admit, but it was fun!

Abbigail hadn't played soccer since Kindergarten. Back then, she was the one at the opposite end of the field picking her nose and playing hopscotch. She wasn't remotely interested in the game. I wasn't sure how this season would go. She picked it up quick and was awesome! Her team consisted of 4th and 5th grade boys and girls. They played on the bigger field, learned positions, who to guard, etc. I thought it might be a little too intense for Abbigail, but boy was I wrong. She knew how to be aggressive and she worked hard all season.

Lily and Quinn both played on the same team. It was fun to see them interact with the same friends. I was surprised at how well they got along on and off the field. It worked out well. Lily has always been the athletic one of the bunch, so it was no surprise to us and she went after it and was good. She scored a goal their very first game! Quinn, on the other hand, surprised us. She is our most reserved girl. Quiet in new situations or around new people, but she went after that ball from the get go. I didn't know Quinn knew how to throw an elbow, but watch out! Girlfriend is aggressive.

Nana and Papa came to as many games as they could. They make the best cheerleaders! We sure love being able to live closer to them and see them frequently. I'd say soccer season was a big success and All the girls are counting down until next year.
